Journey to Excellence : Our World Class Mindset
As an organization, we have
found that by reaching for what appears to be the impossible, we
often actually do the impossible; and even if we don't quite make
it, we inevitably wind up doing much better than we would have done.
BCM Electronics Corporation is the spawn of Motorola's technology
transfer vision back in 1993. Our charter was clearly laid out for
us at the onset; BCM was to graduate from being Motorola feeder
plant which merely provided cost effective local manufacturing, into
a world class EMS provider, by evolving a niche in:
1. RF Technology with box build integration
2. Highly customized product management towards high-mix, low-volume solutions
We have indeed achieved this and much, much more through our
customer diversification initiatives, where we have since made our
services home to several major electronics multinationals.
Our growth towards World Class EMS status is manifested through our:
1. Exceptional growth rates at more than 100% compounded annually from 1993 to-date
2. 100% export oriented business model
3. Certifications in ISO9002 and ISO14000
4. Numerous preferred supplier awards for excellence in Delivery, Quality and Service levels
5. High technology manufacturing capabilities and competencies
6. Highly evolved Supply Chain Management expertise
7. Progressive employee growth and development programs
BCM's strategies and exceptional growth was cited by Prof. Michael
H.Best (University of Massachusetts), who performed a study for the
Economic Planning Unit of the Malaysian Prime Minister's Department.
Recognizing our rapid move up the technology ladder, where we
graduated from a Small & Medium Industry (SMI) to a world class
manufacturing entity in less than 5 years, BCM's strategies were
duly recommended as a crucial Industrial Policy for other Malaysian
SMI's to emulate. This is BCM's contribution to our country.
We recently commissioned our new 100,000 sq. ft. expansion to
complement our present two year old 110,000 sq. ft. Kulim Hi Tech
Park state of the art facility. This expansion realizes a segment of
the joint growth strategy that we've developed with our customers.
Our immediate strategy to step up our value pyramid for our
customers will see towards BCM being a:
1. Development Engineering Center by the end of 2003
2. Multinational, with our plans to setup a facility in China by
2004
BCM is where it is today because our corporate ideology was from our
early days until now molded around the plain fact that we no longer
live in a world that tolerates average or mediocre performance.
We've long discovered that World Class performance is a prerequisite
for survival.
